How to prepare for a hair transplant

Preparation for hair transplantation includes several key stages

Examination and diagnosis of hair condition

01

Firstly, it is necessary to conduct a thorough examination of the scalp and the condition of the hair follicles, as hair loss can have various causes and transplantation methods may vary.

Consultation and recommendations of a doctor

02

Secondly, it is important to consult with a qualified physician to determine whether there are any contraindications to the surgery. After surgery, it is important to carefully follow the doctor’s recommendations to ensure successful recovery and achieve the desired results.

Preparing for hair transplant surgery

Before the operation, it is necessary to undergo tests and bring them with you on the appointed day in printed (original documents) or electronic form:
Hepatitis B (HBsAg)
Hepatitis C (anti-HCV sum)
HIV (antibodies to HIV 1/2 and antigen p24)
Syphilis (RPR)
Complete blood count (without white blood cell count)
Blood coagulation test (prothrombin, APTT, INR, fibrinogen, thrombin time)
Valid for 1 month
An ECG with transcript is required.
If you have allergies to local anesthetics (such as lidocaine, novocaine, ultracaine), or any chronic diseases (cardiovascular, dermatological, endocrinological),
a certificate or report from a relevant specialist (cardiologist, dermatologist, endocrinologist respectively) confirming that there are no contraindications for surgery is required! This is very important!
If you have had fractures , surgeries on the lower extremities or pelvic organs in the past year, or if you have varicose veins of the lower extremities , it is necessary to perform an ultrasound of the lower extremity vessels.

Preparing for hair transplant surgery

Avoid using medicated shampoos for 3 days before the procedure
Avoid using topical products containing minoxidil and other hair serums for 5-7 days before the procedure
Avoid taking blood-thinning medications (NSAIDs, non-narcotic analgesics) — for example, ibuprofen, aspirin, and others. Anticoagulants and antiplatelet agents should only be taken as recommended by your attending physician.

You must inform your doctor about any medical medications you have taken in the last 5-7 days.

Avoid consuming alcoholic beverages for 2 weeks before the hair transplant surgery
Avoid smoking, including hookah, for 7 days before the procedure
On the eve and on the day of the procedure, it is forbidden to consume fatty, fried, spicy, and smoked foods, as well as coffee.
The evening before, you need to take a shower at home and wash your hair with the shampoo you normally use (not on the day of the transplant!). Do not apply hairspray, gel, or other hair products.

Patient guide
What to bring on the day of the procedure:

A button-up or zippered shirt (or sweater), or any other type of clothing that can be removed without touching the transplanted hair.
A change of clean pants or shorts (something comfortable for long periods of time). We do not recommend jeans or any tight pants.
Umbrella (in case of rain or snow)
Clean shoes (such as slippers or flip-flops)

Recommendations after hair transplantation

You must come the next day for a dressing change and examination to determine your condition after the procedure.

01

It is important to start taking the necessary vitamins to improve the condition of your hair.

02

Perform a light scalp massage, but do so carefully so as not to damage the transplanted follicles.

03

Tricopigmentation may be recommended for people at high risk of alopecia to improve the visual volume of hair.
